Who Is the American Woman Making Headlines in Pakistan?
An American woman, Onijah Andrew Robinson, has taken social media by storm after travelling to Pakistan to marry a 19-year-old she met online—only to be rejected. Despite this, Robinson has refused to leave the country and has since become a viral sensation. She has even held press conferences in Karachi, where she has demanded money and made bold claims about “rebuilding” Pakistan.
At first, Robinson’s story was followed mainly by Pakistani media, but thanks to TikTok, she has now become known worldwide as “that American woman in Pakistan.”
Who Is Onijah Robinson?
Robinson, 32, arrived in Karachi in October 2024, expecting to marry Nidal Ahmed Memon, whom she had met online. However, things took a turn when Memon’s family realized that Robinson had allegedly been using a filter during their conversations, making her appear as a blonde white woman instead of her actual appearance.
Memon’s mother disapproved of the match when the truth came out and reportedly locked Robinson out of their home before disappearing with the entire family. Since then, no one seems to know where they went.
Why Is She Still in Pakistan?
Left alone in Karachi, Robinson was reportedly seen camping outside Memon’s apartment complex. As her story gained attention, a Pakistani philanthropist, Ramzan Chhipa, stepped in to offer help and arrange for her return to the U.S.
However, Robinson doesn’t seem interested in leaving. During a press conference with Chhipa, she made bizarre statements, switching between yelling at him and making unexpected demands.
“My plan is to reconstruct this whole country, okay? I’m asking for 100K or more. I need 20K by this week.”
Her erratic behaviour has raised questions about her intentions and left many wondering what will happen next.
What’s Next for Robinson?
As her viral fame grows, so do speculations and debates about her situation. Some believe she needs help, while others see this as an elaborate stunt.
Regardless, Robinson’s story has captivated the internet, leaving everyone asking the same question:
