Sachin Yadav Wins Javelin Gold at National Games 2025 with Record-Breaking Throw
Dehradun, Uttarakhand – February 12, 2025: Sachin Yadav delivered a sensational performance at the National Games 2025, winning gold in men’s javelin throw with a meet record of 84.39m at the Ganga Athletics Ground, MPSC.
A New Personal Best & Meet Record
The 25-year-old athlete from Uttar Pradesh achieved his best throw on his fifth attempt, surpassing his previous personal best of 82.69m set last year in Bengaluru. His record-breaking throw also shattered the previous National Games record of 82.23m, set by Rajinder Singh in 2015.
However, Yadav’s throw fell just 1.11m short of the World Athletics Championships 2025 qualifying mark (85.50m). Despite this, he remains optimistic:
“My goal was to qualify automatically for the World Championships, but I fell short. I’m close and will aim for 85.50m in my next competition.” – Sachin Yadav
Podium Finish & Asian Championships Entry
🏅 Gold – Sachin Yadav (84.39m)
🥈 Silver – Rohit Yadav (80.47m)
🥉 Bronze – Vikash Sharma (79.33m)
All three medallists, along with Olympian Shivpal Singh (76.56m) and Shivam Lohakare (76.45m), cleared the 75.36m entry standard for the Asian Athletics Championships 2025 in South Korea (May 2025). However, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) will decide the final selection after the Federation Cup in April.
