Apple Issues Urgent Update to Fix Critical Security Flaw

Urgent Apple Update: Fix Critical Security Flaw Now!

Apple has issued an important security update after researchers discovered a severe kernel vulnerability (CVE-2025-24118) that could allow hackers to execute code, modify system memory, or crash devices.

About the Kernel Flaw in iPadOS 17.7.4, macOS Sequoia 15.3, and macOS Sonoma 14.7.3

The flaw stems from Safe Memory Reclamation, per-thread credentials, read-only page mappings, and memory behaviour.
This results in a race condition, allowing unauthorized credential modification.
The XNU kernel concurrency issue enables attackers to exploit a non-atomic memory update, creating a time-of-check to time-of-use race condition.
Attackers can manipulate a process’s credentials stored in a read-only structure by forcing frequent credential updates using a multi-threaded attack.

 Devices That Need Updating

iPads – Install iPadOS 17.7.4
MacBooks & Macs – Update to macOS Sequoia 15.3 or macOS Sonoma 14.7.3

 How to Update Your Device

Mac Users: Go to System Settings > Software Update and install the latest version.
iPad Users: Go to Settings > General > Software Update and update now.
To enable Automatic Updates, Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Enable Automatic Updates (a manual update is faster).

 Why You Should Update Now

Apple’s Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) score for this flaw is 9.8/10, making it extremely critical.
A proof-of-concept has been released, meaning hackers now have access to exploit details.
Even the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore has issued a warning, urging immediate updates.
Apple fixes these issues without initially disclosing details, but attackers could strike at any time now that information is out.
